In response to an appeal filed by GEABP, the Appellate Division, First Department, of the New York Supreme Court granted summary judgment in favor of our client, a real estate developer, and dismissed a case seeking more than $65 million in damages. The case was brought by our client’s former attorney who claimed to have been given a percentage share in all revenues from a certain real estate project as compensation for his work, in addition to hourly fees. After years of heavily contested litigation – involving many unusual issues of contract law, questions of attorney ethics, and more — our client succeeded in defeating the claims in their entirety. The defense was led by David Eiseman and Jacqueline Veit.
